Transcriptome sequencing reads were processed according to the pipeline depicted in Fig. In short, they were trimmed according to quality values using Trimmomatic58, removing bases below Q20 and maintaining an average read quality above Q25. Pairs with one read below the quality thresholds were removed from the analyses.
